Fish mouth. You forgot to include fish mouth.

Heck, isn't this the second time the Fiesta's won it?

This is actually my fav big mouth ford. I think its the headlights that does it for me.

What about the manner in which the driver's window winds up?

Surely not.

Yeah the Fiesta was late to the game with that feature as well - I think it was 2004 when they first had it.

Nice work. Great car as well as the Focus. XR8 must be in the running next year.

I think being a small package it all works, agree - no one likes a BIG mouth :) and there in lies the one ford error to a degree.

I wonder when we're due for a new Fiesta platform, since these ones are getting a little old now, WS came out in the UK in 2008.

If the platform is still competent at its job and competes well against others, the age of the platform doesn't really matter.

The front as seen as a face, takes on a degree of humanity, the grill the mouth, the headlights the eyes. Sometimes it really is that simple in playing tricks with peoples affections.
Regardless of size, it is still relative to proportions but i agree potentially easier to get the mix right as the trend is towards smaller and smaller lights or eyes. You know what they say about people with small eyes?

My 7 and 4 yo daughters see cars as "happy" or "sad".

BA was happy, BF was sad etc based on the outer inflections of the lower grill opening..

Children have an amazing un tarnished innocent honesty about them.

Yep, sometimes we complicate stuff too much...

Maybe they should survey primary school kids on design acceptance too....

Have they seen the previous model Mazda 3?

Aren't we forgetting the Aston Martin, which had been voted Europeans favorite car consecutive yrs running n if I'm not mistaken it's a fish mouth to. Also didn't ford own Aston Martin at one stage. Personally I like the look on all Ford's, falcon included.

It's an interesting read about Aston Martin history. tickford, prodrive are mentioned and if it wasn't for ford they would died yrs ago

I've been fortunate to have driven and fanged one of these new ST fiestas through the Adelaide Hills. It's a fantastic package and great value for money. I'm not surprised it has won this award

The regular Fiestas handle nicely so I imagine the ST would be pretty damn sweet, when I first got my WS Fiesta in 2009 the first thing I did was thrash it up and over Mt Macedon with the old boy.
