Thanks for the videos.
Like others, some shots and angles are pure horn, then others have me thinking wtf! I won't be in the market for a GT version, i will be more looking and waiting for a Shelby, Roush or Ford racing version. Something with big wheels, big HP and body kit.

Impressive and unusual, but this guy's a professional analyst, not a mere presenter with automotive knowledge obtained from reading car magazines, or worse, someone that makes shit up as he goes along like Dowling.

This guy seems quite excited by it's lines. Any translators in the house?

Edit:

Summarizing the vid:

1) He loved the lines (haha obviously w/ all the touching). His impression was that they were very aerodynamic. He described the sharp lines on the front bumper cover, saying it was a 2 piece bumper w/ the cover being one and the splitter being the other. And that the design of the front bumper used some of the current GT500 styling (he detailed the fangs) and the new Ford design language.

2) He said they were allowed to touch and try everything they wanted, even the interior, but they weren't allowed to sit because they were still in pre-production and Ford didn't want to convey a false impression of the seats or seating position or whatever.

3) He was very disappointed on the central trans tunnel cover being hard plastic. But he loved the other components on the interior in special the steering wheel saying that was a little thicker than the current model and shorter.

4) He praised the style of the new set of taillights saying they were very modern and stylish w/ sharp lines giving some texture to the smooth rear deck.

5) On the headlights, he commented that the LEDs tri-bar had a forced kind of a feel, but that the industry is heading to that standard, so, he was ok w/ them. Overall, he loved the sleek and design of the headlights minus the LEDs TriBar.

6) On the style, he said the car in person looked much more sleek and beautiful than in pictures. Also that it had a special presence.

I agree, the more i look, the more i notice with the styling etc. I do hope that Aussies can move on and embrace this car, if this doesn't succeed then there is no hope of another 4 door performance car.

I have to agree but nothing beats seeing them in the flesh - sit in the cock pit and sus it all out, I've always loved the fast back even though they killed off that term.
My fellow ol school mussy friend is all negative as he says is most of his fellow pony club associates incl the US guys.
He/they say it has lost its soul - design being partly astonish is part of the prob LOL...I taunt him saying I haven't seen many bad looking modern day astons.

Did your Mustang mates like the current shape Maurie?

Falc'man
24th December 2013, 06:11 PM
That's one way of looking at it, Ian.

Who would Ford US say "I told you so" to though? Or do you mean Ford Aus saying it to us? Unless I'm mistaken the coupe vs sedan debate hasn't really meant much except to those who were losing the iconic sedan. If it were on the other foot you'd expect the same fight and vigor from Mustangers. The argument is that product is easier to sell, but I don't agree with that, either. Chrysler's 4 door sedan agrees with us, and the chances are Ford's watching. In conclusion there's the success of GM's and Chrysler's sedans for Ford to use as a gauge (not necessarily Toyota's 172 which is a pipedream), rather than the failure of Mustang to spur them on.

Ford 2013 is certainly not the same company I grew up with and have loved for 35 years, they're nothing like the bullish performance leaders they were in the 70's. They have steered a different course to GM without question.

Im not sure what they are now..... But the reality of the past 12 months has left me wondering where to now....

Falc'man
24th December 2013, 08:20 PM
You're right, Ian, it doesn't matter how Mustang goes. Ford's going to build 4 and 5 hundred hp sedans anyway.

Yes they are Ian, they are certainly survivors.... so are Toyota, Mazda and Hyundai....

It's Christmas and the sky is not falling. Market trends do however come and go and that means some of our favorite cars and models along with it unfortunately. If not now the Ford of the future will develop something that captures your performance interest. I agree there are limited options right now and in the more immediate future. History has proven that will change at some point. Sometimes to look forward you have to look back.

In the meantime we have the FH XR8 and a hot new Mustang to look forward to and celebrate here. If neither float your boat then by all means try another brand or get a classic. Those manufactures that are still mass catering for 4 door performance sedans in the lower price levels probably won't be for much longer. Only prestige brands that have the superior demand and better global development and distribution models are likely to survive and prosper.

In 2014....
And possibly up to 2016 if you thought I was talking about Falcon. Who were you referring to as survivors?

Fusion and Taurus, Ian.

You’ll always have people who are, for want of a better word, traditionalists, who will find it very hard to embrace something new that they believe does not do the original justice.

It doesn’t just happen with cars. In the eighties, Kenworth released the T600. This was the first aerodynamic styled truck on the market and many didn’t like them. Now generations on, the original designs have progressed and are now commonplace and many look very good.

Anyway, with the Stang. Haters are gunna hate, that’s just a fact of life. I love it when people say things like “it looks too much like an Aston”, lol. To me, that’s like saying that I’m disappointed because my wife looks too much like Claudia Schiffer.

I’ve made my mind up and I will be buying one.

Roll on 2015.

I personally hope that the new Stang sounds better in real life then some of these clip’s as to me it’s to much of a crackle and not very “tough” sounding, it’s loud for sure, but just not deep and growling how I like my V8’s.
