Spy photos show updated Ford Focus ahead of reveal, possibly at 2014 Detroit Motor Show

The new Ford Focus release date could be as early as the 2014 Detroit Motor Show and our spy photos show the Focus is getting a new face.

Behind the light disguise of this pre-production Focus ST version is the same Aston Martin style chrome grille as on the facelifted Fiesta. There’s also a neater bumper design, although these pictures suggest the rest of the styling will remain largely unchanged.

Plus, the already efficient engines will be tuned to further boost economy.

Several versions of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol are offered in the current car, but a new 1.5 diesel is expected at the lower end of the line-up. Plus, emissions will be cut on larger TDCi engines.

The Kuga, C-MAX and Focus now all use the same platform, so a plug-in hybrid Focus using the same drivetrain as the C-MAX hybrid is also a strong possibility.

Ford SYNC voice activation tech and more online services will give the car greater connectivity. The new Focus could debut as early as next year’s Detroit Motor Show, but a spokesman said new engines were likely to appear here before any cosmetic changes arrive

Won't be hard to improve on the looks of the current one, its an awkward looking design.

Ford will certainly have striking similarities in design cues come 2014

The Golf 7's reviews suggest it's now the best out there. I hope this makeover is good.
